Al-Rahi Slams Trump's 'Destructive Decision' on Jerusalem
Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi on Sunday blasted U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital as “regrettable” and “destructive,” urging him to reverse it.
“Trump’s decision violates the resolutions of international legitimacy, defies the regional and international will, and insults Palestinians, Levantine Christians, Muslims and all Arabs,” said al-Rahi in his Sunday Mass sermon.
“It destroys the bridges of peace between Israel, the Palestinians and the Arab states, ignites the fire of a new uprising, and turns city of peace Jerusalem into a city of war,” the patriarch warned.
“This would be an aggression against its holiness and against God,” al-Rahi added.
“It is necessary to permanently reverse this destructive decision as if it was never issued,” the patriarch went on to say.
There were fresh protests in the Middle East and elsewhere Sunday over Trump's declaration, a move that drew global condemnation and sparked days of deadly unrest in the Palestinian territories.
“It destroys the bridges of peace between Israel,.....and the Arab states"
Patriarch al-Rahi, if you are so interested in building bridges of peace between Israel and the Arab States, why don't you start with your own country, Lebanon.
Ask your Prime Minister exactly when will he (or his representatives) be willing to sit down with the Israelis to hammer out a peace treaty. Remember Lebanon wouldn't be the first (or the second).
Bowing down to foreign powers is just as destructive, ain't that right bighassan? You exploit Christians just as much as they do.
