13 Injured as Train Hits Bus in Croatia

Thirteen people were injured Saturday, including two seriously, when a local train hit a bus at a level crossing in southern Croatia, police said.

The accident occurred near the southern town of Drnis, some 220 kilometers (135 miles) southeast of Zagreb, a police spokeswoman said.

The 13 injured, who had all been on the bus, were hospitalized in the nearby coastal town of Sibenik, she said, adding that two were fighting for their lives.

The circumstances of the accident were not immediately known, but national television HRT reported that the crossing had been damaged by a car in another accident that occurred Friday.

The train was traveling between the central town of Knin and Sibenik.
