Lebanon First MP Oqab Saqr stated that Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s admission that the party had been infiltrated by Israeli spies is a sign that there is no such thing as a “suitable atmosphere” for harboring such individuals.
He told the pan-Arab daily Asharq al-Awsat in remarks published on Sunday: “However, we can say that the Free Patriotic Movement does provide such conditions because it is going out of its way in defending an individual who has been proven to be a collaborator with Israel.”
Addressing Hizbullah, the MP asked: “How do you allow your ally to send his MPs to applaud their agent in the courtroom? How do you allow them to provide immunity to such individuals?”
“After the FPM took over the Justice Ministry, we fear that it has started to shelter agents within the Lebanese state,” he added.
“With all respect to Justice Minister Shakib Qortbawi, we have no doubt that he will eventually yield to the pressure that he is being subject to,” the MP said.
“When I protect an agent and defend him, then I am providing him with the suitable conditions,” Saqr stressed.
“After discovering Fayez Karam’s collaboration with Israel, we ask the Resistance’s supporters: Are there spies we can protect and others we can execute?” he asked.
Retired General Karam, a senior member of the FPM, was arrested in August on suspicion of working with Israel.
