Lunch With Guru Buffett: $2 Million and Counting!

Alert: if you want to have lunch with the Oracle of Omaha, it's going to cost you more than $2 million.

The annual charity auction of a lunch with investment guru Warren Buffett got underway Monday, and just hours into the five-day bidding battle, the price was already at $2,000,111.

The founder and wizard of investment house Berkshire Hathaway has put a meal with him on the auction block every year since 1999, to raise money for The Glide Foundation of San Francisco.

He donates the money to the foundation, tied to Glide Memorial Church in San Francisco's harsh Tenderloin district, which uses it to feed and support the poor.

The winner gets a lunch for himself and seven friends at the famed New York City steakhouse Smith & Wollensky.

The price is guaranteed not to run cheap; last year's bids didn't even really take off until the last days of the auction, held online by eBay.

The anonymous winner paid $2.63 million, making the $650,100 winning bid of 2007, from a California investment specialist, look like an absolute bargain.

Altogether the annual auction has raised $9 million for Glide.
