Jordanian “Tadreesna.com” has been selected as one of the semi-finalist teams for this year’s MIT Enterprise Forum Pan Arab Region Start-Up Competition for the Start-up Track
Tadreesna.com is the world’s first Arab one to one online tutoring platform for Arab students in the Middle East. The company which was launched in February 2011 aims at enhancing e-learning in a simple, interactive and safe way.
Idea Inspiration
While surfing the web Noura Saad came across an article that discussed the benefits of online tutoring, little did she know that this article would change her life and would pave the way for her entrepreneurial journey .“ I had always heard parents complain about not having tutors for their children when they needed them the most because they were either fully booked or overpriced and after reading the article I thought to myself that every student deserved to have tutor so why not create an online platform that would give parents access to affordable reliable tutors whenever they needed. I was excited and began working on transforming my simple idea into a viable business.” Says Noura Saad the founder of Tadreesna.com.
More than on Online Arabic Tutoring Service
Tadreesna’s online tutoring services are designed for Arab high-school and university students studying in the public sector. The company also offers online workshops for housewives or individuals seeking to enhance their skills and develop their career. Tadreesna’s tutoring sessions are offered either through the one-to-one tutoring service or the “students group” virtual classes where students in the same class can sign up together and receive tutoring as a group. Tadreesna’s sessions are delivered through an interactive board, text and voice chat service where students can interact with their tutors as if they were sitting next to them.
Tadreesna’s e-library offers an extensive collection of past exams which are crucial for teaching various subjects and for exam preparation. The company also has a unique “problem solving” approach in delivering its classes in order to better equip students to excel in their studies. Tadreesna’s team consists mainly of professional skilled instructors who work remotely from their home. Teachers have more flexibility in managing their time and have a chance to increase their income with less effort compared to working in traditional tutoring centers.
“Our vision is to provide world-class on-line tutoring to students in the MENA region and in the future Tadreesna hopes to establish the first Arabic online school to educate females who didn’t get the chance to complete their education.” Says Noura.
Advice for Entrepreneurs
“Be patient as time passes and you will begin to understand the ins and outs of your business, just because I launched an online tutoring service doesn’t mean that I know everything about this industry. Entrepreneurs need to learn from their mistakes and should not focus on making money alone, instead we should think about ways to solve people’s problems and concerns.” Advises Noura.
Tadreesna.com will attend a two day workshop in Qatar in April 25 along with 49 other teams, where they will receive coaching, training and network with other entrepreneurs from the Arab region and meet the region’s major players in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Semi-finalist ideas or startups in ICT, digital media, and mobile will automatically qualify for the Oasis 500 training and acceleration program http://www.oasis500.com/ , which is a six-day training program that covers all business aspects, including business modeling, financials, pitching, facilitation and marketing
