Jumblat Meets Hollande, Says No Party Will Triumph in Elections

Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat discussed with French President Francois Hollande on Monday “the importance of preserving stability in Lebanon and safeguarding the country from Syria's conflict”.

"Dialogue between different factions of the country can eliminate all concerns they have,” Jumblat said after meeting with Hollande in Paris, expressing that no party will emerge as a sole winner and dominate after the elections.

The Central News Agancy had reported that a delegation of March 14 politicians had traveled to Paris, and it included MP Marwan Hamadeh and ex-lawmakers Fares Soaid, Samir Franjieh and Ghattas Khoury.

The opposition leaders will reportedly discuss the electoral law drafts and try to restrengthen the ties between different members of the alliance, the agency added.

Meanwhile, Phalange Party leader Amin Gemayel held a meeting with former Prime Minister Saad Hariri also in Paris, during which the two men discussed the latest developments in the country and the proposed electoral law drafts.

The Central News Agency revealed that a meeting might be held between Jumblat and Hariri to discuss the upcoming parliamentary elections.
