Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdul Karim Ali assured on Friday that Syria is more fortified than ever after the recent unrest witnessed in the Arab country.
He said after holding talks with Speaker Nabih Berri: “Matters are improving and reforms are being implemented at a fast pace.”
Commenting on U.S. President Barack Obama’s latest speech on the region, he said: “His statements weren’t surprising as the U.S. policy has and still is biased towards Israeli aggression.”
On Syrian President Bashar Assad’s pledge to launch dialogue “to include all Syrians”, the ambassador said: “This step will create a deeper national unity and reject foreign meddling.”
Asked if U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Jeffrey Feltman’s visit to Lebanon is connected to the developments in Syria, Ali responded: “Feltman is not new to Lebanon and he meddles in its affairs whether he is abroad or in the country.”
