Speaker Nabih Berri’s adviser MP Ali Hassan Khalil said on Saturday that people’s trust in a state capable of tackling their interests should be restored.
“We demand the formation of a real salvation government… capable of holding national dialogue and setting a political agenda that reconnects the diverse national elements,” he added.
He explained that some political parties were counting on employing the regional changes and the Special Tribunal for Lebanon “for monopolizing political decisions.”
Khalil stressed that this goal failed after the new majority was formed, saying: “We are facing a new challenge, it either succeeds or we fall in the trap time wasting.”
“The new majority should be up to the challenges,” Khalil said.
Addressing the internal situation in Syria, the speaker’s adviser stressed: “We stand by Syria that supported Lebanese unity and the reformation of the state and its institutions.”
He warned some parties from trying to meddle in Syrian affairs, saying: “Syria’s security is Lebanon’s security and Lebanon’s security is Syria’s security.”
“You shouldn’t interfere in Syria because your actions will all backfire against you because we are confident that Syria can emerge from this crisis,” he cautioned.
