President Michel Suleiman will address the Lebanese people on Wednesday on the eve of Independence Day where he will stress the necessity to spare Lebanon any regional repercussions following Monday's discovery of rockets set up to be fired against Israel, unnamed sources told An Nahar daily Tuesday.
The president is expected to reiterate the need to spare Lebanon the repercussions of the thorny Syrian crisis and Israeli aggression on Gaza, but he will renew Lebanon's solidarity with the Palestinian cause, the sources added.
Moreover, Suleiman intends to call on political powers in Lebanon to shoulder responsibility and end the lingering political crisis in the nation by urging them to return to dialogue and spare Lebanon any further turmoil, they continued.
The opposition March 14 alliance boycotted all parliamentary activities following the assassination of Internal Security Forces Intelligence Bureau head Brig. Gen. Wissam al-Hasan in October and demanded the resignation of Premier Najib Miqati's cabinet.
Suleiman will stress that the national dialogue table is the only proper place to resolve all problems and the best way to look at any possible governmental change, the sources concluded.
An army patrol in southern Lebanon discovered on Monday two 107mm Grad rockets between the towns of Halta and al-Mari in the Hasbaya district which were set up to be fired against Israel.
Israel issued a warning to Lebanon over the incident, reports said.
