East Jerusalem Cars Vandalized in Apparent Hate Attack

Palestinian cars were vandalized overnight in the Shuafat neighborhood of Israeli-annexed east Jerusalem, in an attack that bore the hallmarks of a hate crime by Israeli rightwing extremists, Agence France Presse reported.

Six vehicles had their tires slashed and were daubed with slogans in Hebrew reading "Price tag," "Death to the enemy" and "Kippa Sruga" the name of a wildcat settlement outpost in the northern West Bank razed by Israeli security forces on Thursday.

It is also the term used to describe the small crocheted skullcap worn by men of the religious-nationalist Jewish settlement movement.

Another slogan was "Maale Zeitim," a Jewish settlement in the Palestinian Ras al-Amud neighborhood of east Jerusalem, an area where an Israeli was injured in a stabbing attack on Friday.

"Price tag" is the name of a revenge campaign by Jewish extremists, for the most part targeting Palestinians and Arabs in response to Israeli government moves against settler outposts.

Such attacks tend to involve the wanton destruction of property and have included arson attacks on cars, mosques and olive trees.
