French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian is scheduled to visit Lebanon next week to discuss with Lebanese officials ways to provide logistic support for the Lebanese army, An Nahar daily reported on Wednesday.
An Nahar said Le Drian’s two-day visit next Thursday would come as part of a trip to Jordan where he is expected to inspect a Syrian refugee camp on the border with Syria.
France has sent surgeons to help the wounded Syrian refugees that have escaped the violence in their country.
The French Defense Minister is scheduled to hold talks with several Lebanese politicians and military officials on “logistic support” for the army and ways to improve its capabilities as part of an assistance program, An Nahar said.
Army chief Gen. Jean Qahwaji and several other officials had discussed with French authorities about the program during a series of visits to Paris.
