Hariri Urges Authorities to Take Decisive Stand on Telecom Data Dispute

Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri slammed on Saturday the failure to deliver the telecommunications data to the investigations into the assassination attempts against March 14 leaders.

He said via Twitter: “This is simply unacceptable and requires that Lebanese authorities at the highest level take a stand on this critical national issue.”

He also deemed as “disturbing” the government’s refusal to make evidence available to the investigation.

Addressing the Syrian crisis, the former premier hoped that this “holy month would mark the end of the Syrians’ plight at the hand of the brutal regime” and the beginning of their victory “on the road to freedom and dignity.”

MP Butros Harb had escaped an attempt on his life on July 5 when residents of the building where his office is located discovered individuals trying to booby trap the elevator with explosives.

The perpetrators managed to escape.

Investigations are underway in the case.

Telecommunications Minister Nicolas Sehnaoui had informed Harb that the security agencies were delivered the so-called telecom data in the investigation into the assassination attempt against him.

The MP described as an “achievement” the handing over of the data although security forces said the information was incomplete over the failure to deliver the security agencies what is known as the international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI).
