Hizbullah and Amal Condemn ‘Criminal Act’ of Qoran Burning

Hizbullah and Amal have condemned the burning of a copy of the Qoran by controversial U.S. Pastor Terry Jones at a small Florida church earlier in the week.

The burning was carried out by pastor Wayne Sapp under the supervision of Jones, who last September drew sweeping condemnation over his plan to ignite a pile of Qorans on the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Hizbullah said in a statement that this “act of crime” is part of the propaganda against religion and Sharias.

The Shiite party warned that these actions could create sectarian disputes and cover up the struggle between world powers and weaker nations.

The Lebanese resistance also urged all religious institutions to beware of such actions and asked church officials to take the necessary measures to prevent the “evil conspiracy.”

Hizbullah held the U.S. responsible for the burning of the Qoran because it serves Washington’s objectives among which is creating disputes between Christians and Muslims.

Amal movement also condemned such actions and called for efforts to stop these “immoral and criminal acts.”
