Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat will remain in the cabinet and is committed to his alliance with Hizbullah, al-Akhbar newspaper reported on Tuesday.
“Although they have different stances regarding the Syrian revolution, Jumblat is committed to his alliance with Hizbullah,” sources close to the PSP leader told the daily.
Concerning his current visit to Saudi Arabia, the sources said that it’s a fence-mending and non-official visit to the country.
Sources told al-Liwaa newspaper that Jumblat’s stances on the Syrian crisis helped “break the ice” with Riyadh.
The MP has been a vocal critic of the Syrian regime, voicing his support for the Syrian people’s demands for democratic change in their country.
The sources informed al-Akhbar that Saudi King Abdullah inquired former PM Saad Hariri about his relations with the Druze leader.
“Hariri’s response was positive,” according to the sources that said Jumblat requested a meeting with Hariri.
Hariri arrived in the kingdom recently where he held talks with the Saudi monarch.
