France coach Zidane calls up Akliouche as replacement for Zaïre-Emery
France coach Zinedine Zidane has called up attacking midfielder Maghnes Akliouche as a replacement for the injured Warren Zaïre-Emery for upcoming Nations League matches.
The French soccer federation said in a statement on Monday that Zaïre-Emery suffers from an adductor injury that ruled him out of France's training camp.
Both Zaïre-Emery and Akliouche play for PSG. Zaïre-Emery started in Sunday's 2-1 win at Marseille in Ligue 1.
He is the second player to withdraw after Lens goalkeeper Robin Risser was also ruled out and replaced by Jean Butez, who plays for Como in Italy.
France plays in Turkey on Sept. 25 and Belgium three days later, then hosts Italy on Oct. 2 and Belgium on Oct. 5.
Zidane replaced Didier Deschamps after the World Cup. As a player, he led France to glory at the 1998 World Cup and the European Championship two years later.
