Report: US views army plan positively, wants implementation

U.S. envoy Morgan Ortagus and U.S. Central Command chief Admiral Brad Cooper heard Sunday from Lebanon’s representative in the ceasefire committee a detailed briefing about the Lebanese Army’s plan for arms monopolization and what has been achieved until the moment, informed sources said.

“The Americans dealt with the plan positively but said that implementation is what matters. The U.S. delegation also showed leniency in listening to the reasons that obstruct the army’s deployment in the South due to Israel’s occupation of the five hills,” the sources told the PSP’s al-Anbaa news portal.

“The U.S. stance was supportive of the army’s position, welcoming of its plan and understanding of the need for Israel to carry out positive steps in return for the Lebanese steps,” the sources added.
