Russia expects 'difficult' talks with Ukraine in Istanbul

A plane carrying a Russian delegation taking part in a third round of talks with Ukraine in Istanbul has left Moscow, Russian news agencies reported Wednesday.

"The plane with the Russian delegation has left Moscow for Istanbul," a source told the state RIA news agency.

Russia confirmed it would take part in peace talks with Ukraine later on Wednesday in Istanbul and said it expected the meeting would be "very difficult".

"Indeed, our delegation has left for Istanbul, and talks are indeed scheduled for this evening... No one expects an easy road. It will be very difficult," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters including AFP.
