Israel claims foiling Hezbollah bomb attack on ex-Israeli official

The Israeli army said Tuesday that Israel’s internal security agency, the Shin Bet, has foiled an imminent “Hezbollah plot” to target a former security official with an explosive device.

Hezbollah “was planning to target a former official in the security establishment and was planning to carry it out in the few coming days,” Israeli army Arabic-language spokesman Avichay Adraee said in a post on the X platform.

“During the operation, the Shin Bet uncovered a Klimagor explosive device, known to be used by Hezbollah, which was intended to target the individual. The explosive device was connected to a remote activation device that contained a camera and a mobile phone, with the aim of being activated by Hezbollah from Lebanon,”: Adraee said.

“The operational readiness and activities of the forces prevented the implementation of this terrorist operation, which was in its final stages of implementation,” he added.

Noting that the aforementioned explosive device is “similar to the Klimagor device used by the terrorist Hezbollah on 9/15/23 in Park Hayarkon in Tel Aviv, which was planned to be used to target an Israeli official,” Adraee said “this terrorist network has been under surveillance for a long time.”
