Iran hails Hezbollah's 'limited and calculated' attack on Israel

Iran’s foreign ministry said Monday that Israel “failed to predict the time and place” of Hezbollah’s “limited and calculated attack” that “made it lose its deterrence,” referring to Hezbollah’s retaliation on Sunday to the assassination of its military chief Fouad Shukur.

“The strategic equation has changed and the myth of the invincible army has become an empty slogan,” the ministry added.

“The terrorist Israeli army lost deterrence and its offensive power and it has to defend against strategic strikes,” the ministry said.

Hezbollah said Sunday that it hit an Israeli military intelligence site near Tel Aviv as part of a barrage of hundreds of rockets and drones in retalation to Shukur’s assassination.

Israel for its part said it carried out dozens of preemptive strikes to thwart Hezbollah’s attack, calling the group’s operation a failure.
