Hezbollah says fully prepared for any Israeli strike

Hezbollah on Tuesday said that it is taking the latest Israeli threats seriously and that it is “fully prepared” for any Israeli strike linked to Saturday’s deadly rocket fire on the Golan’s Majdal Shams.

“The enemy’s talk of a harsh and limited strike does not concern us at all, because it will be an aggression regardless of its magnitude,” a senior Hezbollah leader told Al-Jazeera television.

“The mediators have informed us that they have contacted the enemy to ask it to spare civilians, but we do not trust our enemy,” the Hezbollah official added.

“The mediators have suggested that we don’t respond to the expected aggression and we have informed them of our rejection of that,” the Hezbollah source revealed.

“We will certainly respond to any Israeli aggression and the resistance’s leadership will decide the shape and magnitude of the response to any potential aggression,” the source added.

Threatening that Hezbollah is “capable of bombarding the military facilities in Haifa, the Golan and (the) Ramat David (air base) in a harsh and violent way,” the Hezbollah leader said the group does not expect a land invasion but is “fully prepared” for such a scenario.

“A land invasion of Lebanon will be a motive for us to set our first foot in the Galilee,” the senior Hezbollah official warned.

He also said that Hezbollah was not surprised by “the U.S. endorsement of the enemy’s account of events.”

Washington had previously endorsed Israel’s narrative regarding the al-Maamadani massacre in Gaza, the official noted.

Israel has accused Hezbollah of being behind the rocket that killed 12 children and teenagers in Majdal Shams, a Druze village in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, a claim that the group has strongly denied.
