Bassil Heads to Cairo for Arab League Meeting on Jerusalem
Foreign Minister Jebran Bassil will fly to Egypt Saturday for an extraordinary meeting of the Arab League against the backdrop of the United State's decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital, the National News Agency reported on Saturday.
Jordan has called for an emergency Arab foreign ministers’ meeting to discuss the Jerusalem issue following US President Donald Trump's controversial announcement, said NNA.
Bassil will deliver a speech at 9:00 p.m., added NNA.
In a controversial move, Trump took a decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and relocate the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to the holy city.
Trump's Jerusalem move prompted negative world reactions warning of potentials of war and violence.
