Turkish troops killed three Kurdish rebels in southeast Turkey overnight, local security sources said on Saturday.
The army launched an operation against militants of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in a rural area near Lice on Friday night, they said.
The fighting lasted around four hours, they added.
Listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey and much of the international community, the PKK took up arms for Kurdish independence in southeastern Turkey in 1984, sparking a conflict that has claimed some 45,000 lives.
