Aoun Slams Centrists, Vows to Confront 'Corrupts'

Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun slammed Thursday the so-called “neutral” and “independent” politicians in the country, in an indirect attack against the ministers named by President Michel Suleiman, Premier Najib Miqati and Druze leader MP Walid Jumblat.

“Nowadays, nearly everyone is confronting us because we are changing the bad pattern into a good pattern. We are confronting the corrupts and we’re not afraid of them, as we’re ethically immunized and no one can accuse us of anything,” Aoun added at a student ceremony organized by the FPM in Dbaye.

“There has been no public accountability in Lebanon since 1993, and the sum of the public debt is equivalent to the sum of the interests we have paid,” Aoun lamented.

Separately, Aoun said that “everyone must shoulder their responsibilities concerning the attack on our students at the NDU (university), or else we will shoulder our responsibilities.”

He threatened to “break the stick against the heads of those using it against us.”

“Let those who want to confront us meet us in the arena,” Aoun dared.

“Let those defending human rights in Syria stand up to defend human rights in (Lebanese) universities first,” the FPM leader added.
