Hizbullah reportedly can no longer endure the security chaos in Beirut's southern suburbs – Dahiyeh – as the Interior Ministry began preparing to implement a security plan in the area.
Sources revealed in comments published in al-Liwaa newspaper on Thursday that logistic preparations are underway to implement a security plan in Dahiyeh.
The sources pointed out that Hizbullah informed concerned officials that it can not tolerate anymore the “repercussions of the proliferation of arms” in its stronghold, in particular after the clashes between al-Jaafar and Zoaiter families in Burj al-Barajneh and the spread of crimes “which only the state could combat.”
Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq refused to reveal during meetings with his visitors the details of the security plan. However, he pointed out that the matter was discussed during the latest round of dialogue between Hizbullah and al-Mustaqbal representatives in Ain al-Tineh.
The dialogue kicked off in December and aims at defusing sectarian tension between Shiites and Sunnis.
