Gunmen Free Drug Kingpin Nouh Zoaiter from Baalbek Hospital

A suspect wanted on several drug smuggling charges was injured on Friday during an army raid against his residence in the Tal Abyad area in the eastern region of Baalbek, reported the National News Agency.

Nouh Zoaiter sustained injuries to his legs during the raid, after which he was taken to al-Rayyan Hospital for treatment amid the heavy deployment of the army and Zoaiter family gunmen around the facility.

The gunmen soon entered the hospital however and helped free the drug kingpin, reported Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3).

Zoaiter had earlier denied to MTV that he was injured during the raid.

He is one of the most prominent drug farmers and dealers and is wanted by the state on several arrest warrants.

Charges against him include drug smuggling, car theft, terrorism, arms trade, selling counterfeit money, and kidnapping.

He is also wanted by Interpol.

This is not the first time that Zoaiter manages to evade arrest as he has succeeded to do so for years.
