Tim Sherwood has been sacked as manager of Tottenham Hotspur, the English Premier League club announced Tuesday.
Sherwood, appointed mid-season to replace the axed Andre Villas-Boas, had long been tipped to be on his way out of the north London club at the end of the season.
And Daniel Levy, the Spurs' chairman, confirmed Sherwood's departure from White Hart Lane by saying in a statement: "We appointed Tim mid-season as someone who knew both the players and the club.
"We agreed an 18-month contract with a break clause at the end of the season and we have now exercised that option."
Sherwood, whose final game in charge was a 3-0 league win at home to Aston Villa on Sunday, guided Spurs to a sixth-placed finish in the table and a position in next season's Europa League.
