United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon spokesman Neeraj Singh noted on Wednesday that the attack against French UNIFIL troops near Sidon on Tuesday is the second such attack in two months.
He said that the safety of UNIFIL troops is of the utmost importance as it regularly performs comprehensive training over its security.
It also takes measures to limit the dangers against it while maintaining its ability to perform its duties.
For this end, UNIFIL is cooperating closely with the Lebanese authorities that are responsible for maintaining law and order, including the international troops’ security.
On May 27, the Italian unit in UNIFIL was attacked by a roadside bomb in the southern area of Rmeileh.
A similar attack targeted on Tuesday French troops from the international force near the southern city of Sidon.
