Nasrallah to Stress Hizbullah’s Ability to Defeat Israel as Qassem Slams March 14

Hizbullah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah is expected to deliver a televised speech at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday on the latest developments in Lebanon, Hizbullah’s Media Relations Department announced.

Nasrallah will deliver his speech on the fifth anniversary of July 2006 war. The “Dignity and Victory” rally will be held at al-Raya Stadium in Beirut’s Southern Suburbs.

A Hizbullah source told al-Liwaa newspaper on Tuesday that the first part of the speech will focus on the victory that the resistance achieved during the 2006 war against Israel, stressing the role of the resistance in liberating the land and holding onto the arms to halt the Israeli attacks.

It said that “Nasrallah will prove that the resistance has the capability to defeat any possible Israeli attack.”

The source told the daily that the speech will tackle the maritime borders issue as Nasrallah will reiterate the equation of maritime deterrence, hinting that Hizbullah will use its rockets that “can reach the Israeli depth if it tried to extract oil or gas from Lebanon’s waters.”

Meanwhile, As Safir newspaper reported that Hizbullah’s chief is expected to address the Special Tribunal for Lebanon probing the assassination of ex-PM Rafik Hariri.

Nasrallah will stress during his speech that the indictment, which named four Hizbullah members, is “targeting the resistance” to help Israel.

The party’s deputy leader, Sheikh Naim Qassem, slammed on Monday the March 14-led opposition, re-accusing it of advising the U.S. and urging Israel to continue the July 2006 war to finish Hizbullah.

These forces “classified themselves as an opposition after the cabinet led by PM (Najib) Miqati was formed. However, all we see is an opposition suffering from chaos,” Qassem said.

He urged the opposition not to “repeat the backing down experience,” saying that “whatever you did the cabinet is formed and will launch its work.”
