For the second year, the Lebanese Climbing Association is organizing its Indoor Climbing Competition, an event that gathers people from all ages and climbing levels to enjoy a full day of climbing and entertainment. Even though it is a competition, the main objective behind this event is to encourage all climbers to push their limits, learn from others and discover the sport of climbing all this in a fun environment.
This event will take place on Sunday 22nd December 2013, at the indoor Climbing gym ‘U ROCK CLIMBING’ located in the Rebound Centre in Jdeideh, starting 10am. Prizes are provided from SHOGUN and LA MAISON DU SKI, and range from harnesses, helmets, shoes and much more.
The competition is divided into three categories: Beginner, intermediate and advanced. There will also be a youth section for kids aged 12 and less. Anyone can participate, no matter their level, and prizes will be given to the top two in each category. Routes are being set by a team of experienced climbers.
Two years ago, the association organized a similar event at ‘Gecko’ the first indoor climbing gym in Lebanon. Around 50 international and Lebanese climbers gathered for a day of activities and socializing. There was also a bouldering competition, a different type of climbing, which doesn’t involve a rope on a shorter wall.
The Lebanese Climbing Association (LCA) was created in September 2012 by a group of 7 keen Lebanese rock climbers with the objective of promoting climbing as a sport to the community, and developing new climbing sectors in various areas of Lebanon. Considering the mountains our country offers, there is a lot of potential for climbing and the region is attracting more and more international climbers. This will help bring economic development to the less popular villages in Lebanon.
The Lebanese Climbing Association would like to express its gratitude to the sponsors of this event La Maison du Ski (Faytroun) and Shogun (Bourj Hammoud) for their continuous and valuable support. We also would also like to extend our gratitude to Naharnet and ‘U Rock Climbing’ who contributed to the success of this event.
